Approximately one third of all heroes in DotA can be regarded as a Agility Hero often shortened to AGI hero, here are the differences between this and other types of heroes and a list of heroes with agility as their main attribute.

What is the difference between a agility hero and another type of hero?

There are three types of attribute heroes in DotA. Each hero has a primary attribute, namely agility (AGI), intelligence (INT) or strength (STR). So what difference does this so called primary stat attribute make, and what is the difference between agility, intelligence and strength heroes? Well often heroes gain the most stat growth of their primary stat, and their primary stat besides its regular bonus gives an extra 1 damage bonus for each extra stat point, for example gained from leveling up or items.

Besides the normal bonuses of agility, namely, increasing your armor points with 0.14 armor points for each agility point and faster attack speed, +1% IAS (attack speed) for each agility point, these heroes also gain higher base attack damage (base attack damage) for each agility point that they themselves possess or raise for example through an item. In general these heroes have a higher than average basic agility, with a greater agility increase for levelling up. Agility heroes can therefore often avoid much physical damage, so that it is less of a problem. Agility heroes once they get a little further in the game can often inflict enormous damage, not only because their damage is high but also because they can hit in a very quick succession. Late Game Carry Heroes (heroes who carry the endgame) are usually of the Agility type.

Agility Starter items / Helper items:
Wraith Band - Perfect for agility heroes, as a cheap stat booster.
Bracer - Just the right stat and strength boost to increase the max hp and with that adds the much valued survivability.
Hood of Defiance - Refills your hp and adds magic ressistance protecting you from much magic damage.
Poor Man's Shield - Adds block and Agility, if you tank a lot of damage early game, this is great on Agility heroes.
Magic Wand - Perfect for heroes that need a little extra mana and hp to spam their abilities more often, also offers a cheap stat bonus.
Vanguard - Since this item adds block, a good share of max hp and a nice boost to your hp regeneration, without having to pay extra for Strength it is a cheap survival booster for any Agility hero.
Manta Style - A good item for heroes with high hit damage, innate abilities like criticals or mana burn. It also helps those who have too little mana and lack survivability, it adds good Agility, some Strength, some Intelligence, some attack speed, a little movement speed and gives the ability to Mirror Image (creates fake copies of hero).
Kelens Dagger - Adds the ability to instantly warp to a location, much needed for some heroes.
Lothar's Edge - Adds damage, wind-walk (speed and invicibility) and a little attack speed, perfect for high damage heroes who have trouble surviving enemy attacks or catching enemy heroes nearby.
